The share of sunflower oil shipments to Iran has increased in the geographical structure of Ukrainian exports

1.8 MMT of sunflower oil were shipped during September-December of MY 2016/17 to foreign markets. Traditionally, the main export destinations were China and India, which accounted for 46% of sunflower oil in total for the specified period. The share of European countries in the structure of foreign trade amounted to about 16% in these months.

At the same time, compared to the same period of the last season, the share of export markets mentioned in the foreign trade structure of sunflower oil decreased slightly. Thus, in September-December of MY 2015/16 China and India collectively been accounted for almost 48% of the production; Europe – about 18%. It is important to note that these changes in the geographical structure of foreign trade are largely due to escalating volumes of shipments to Iran. If during September-December of MY 2015/16 there were 33.3 KMT of Ukrainian sunflower oil (2.3% of total exports) delivered to the country, in the corresponding months of the current season the number reached 171.5 KMT (9.5 %).
