In 2016 Ukraine exported flour in amount of $75 million

According to the results of 2016 Ukraine exported flour in amount of $74.53 million, which is 7.6% higher than a year earlier.

It is reported by Delo with reference to the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.

According to the report, the main buyer of Ukrainian flour was China, which imported in amount of $16.5 million. Second biggest buyer was North Korea with 6.4 million of imported wheat value. Third place has been taken by Moldova, which has been the main buyer of Ukrainian flour for a long time, but dropped to $ 6.2 million of purchases in 2016.

“If you look at the results of the first month flour export, it can be concluded that change in geography of shipments has occurred – African markets became the most promising destination for Ukrainian flour export. For example, Angola imported 20 KMT worth of $975 thousand”, – has been said in the statement.

At the same time, according to the results of the last year, Ukraine increased exports of flour to $541 thousand, compared to $526 thousand a year earlier.

It is noted that Russia is still the main supplier of flour to Ukraine, but its share in total imports keeps falling. For example, in 2015 Ukraine imported flour, valued $281 thousand from Russia (53.7% of total imports) and for 2016 shipments fell to $186 thousand of value (34.3% of the total).

“Italy, on the contrary, increased the supply of flour – the share has increased by 4.5% in total imports. In 2016 imports from Italy amounted to $131 thousand. Hungary occupied third place among importers with results of $102 thousand” – has been said in the message.
