According to The Economic Discussion Club (EDC), Ukrainian grain export potential is estimated at 43.7 MMT level.
Particularly, in the current season, Ukraine exported 16.5 MMT of wheat, 5.3 MMT of barley and 20.9 MMT of corn.
It is also noted that in July-January of MY 2016/17 Ukrainian farmers have already exported 27.1 MMT of grain and processed products, which is 12.3% higher compared to the same period a year earlier.
In particular, during the reporting period, Ukraine exported 13 MMT of wheat, which is 15.8% more compared to January-July of the last season and 4.5 MMT of barley (+14.1%). Exports of corn amounted to 9.2 MMT, which is 5.9% more compared to the same period of MY 2015/16.
Africa and Asia remain the main consumers of Ukrainian grain: wheat – Egypt, Indonesia and India; barley – Saudi Arabia and Libya; corn – China and Egypt.
