Ukraine reduced the pace of export shipments of oilseeds complex production in January 2017

According to ProAgro, in September-January MY 2016/17 Ukraine supplied to external markets 25% more of vegetable oil than in the same period of the previous season. At the same time, in January 2017 exports amounted to 465.1 KMT versus 556.8 KMT in the previous month.

Kernel remains the largest exporter of Ukrainian sunflower oil, as well as sunflower meal and cake of the last month, share of which in the total exports of these products exceeds 21%. India and China remain key importers of sunflower oil of Ukrainian origin, which together account for about 45% of its foreign shipments.

The EU became the largest importer of seeds and sunflower meal/cake since the beginning of 2016/17, notably Spain, the Netherlands and France, the share of which in aggregate accounted for almost 75% of Ukrainian sunflower seeds exports and about 33% for sunflower meal/cake.

The biggest importers of rape and products of its processing in 2015/16 were EU countries, such as France, Poland and Lithuania. At the same time, exports of the current season lay far behind the results of the previous marketing year, because the low harvest of the crop, which formed a very limited export potential on this market. ADM Trading Ukraine and Cargill became the largest exporters of rapeseeds on the result of July-January MY 2016/17, which accounted for more than 34% of the aggregate foreign trade shipments of these products.

Total exports of soybeans in September-January MY 2016/17 exceeded by 40% compared to the same period of the previous season. There were also a slight growth of soybean oil (+ 4%), while the external supply of meal/cake of soy increased by 10%. Since the beginning of MY 2016/17, the main external users of Ukrainian soybeans – Turkey and Egypt; soybean oil – Poland and India; soybean meal / cake of Ukrainian origin were imported mainly to Hungary, Belarus, France and Georgia.
