During January-February 2017, Ukraine exported pork worth of $ 2.1 million

In January-February 2017, Ukraine exported 1.13 KMT of pork, which is 56.7% more than the same period a year earlier.

This is reported by the Analytical Department of UPPA.

According to the report, in monetary terms, pork exports for the first two months of this year amounted to $2.1 million, which is almost double compared to the results of January-February 2016.

At the same time, the import of pork to Ukraine amounted to 0.45 KMT, which is 25% less compared to the same period a year earlier. In monetary terms, pork imports amounted to $742 thousand.

Analysts of UPPA note that the main market Ukrainian pork currently is Georgia, where 84.4% of the output goes. At the same time, the share of pork shipments from Ukraine to Kazakhstan (12.4%) and Turkey (1.9% for the same period) is growing.

“The trade of lean hogs seemed to be more modest – in January-February 2017, 363 tons of lean hogs cost $459 thousand were exported to Georgia. Thus, the foreign trade balance of lean hogs trade, as of February 28, made up $313 thousand and the volumes of shipped lean hogs surpassed the results of trade in the first months of 2016 more than in 3.5 times,”- was said in the association.
