Ukraine will launch the sale of agricultural land in 2018 – IMF

Ukraine plans to adopt the law regulating the turnover of agricultural land by the end of May 2017. From 2018, after the moratorium ends, agricultural land will become available for the sale.

As UNIAN reports, this is stated in the letter of IMF about the intentions of the Ukrainian authorities.

“The liberalization of the land market, including the sale of agricultural land, remains important for strengthening the potential for Ukraine”s economic growth, so we established a working group with relevant ministries in cooperation with the World Bank that will draft a law to open the land market for the sale of the land taking into account restrictive measures. The adoption of the law on the turnover of agricultural lands by the parliament is expected in late May 2017. After the moratorium expire on the sale of agricultural land in late 2017, it will be possible to sell public and private land”, – the letter says.

It is also noted that the Ukrainian authorities announced their intention to deliver awareness-raising campaign to inform the public about the benefits of this reform.
