In February 2017 Ukrainian enterprises intensified the processing of flax seeds

According to ProAgro, during February 2017 Ukrainian enterprises increased the processing of flax seeds by almost 15 times in comparison to the results of the same month of the last year.

Thus, the volume of flax seeds processing in the reporting month reached 2.14 KMT (against 1.6 KMT in January 2017 and 137 tons in February 2016). In total, since the beginning of this year 8,34 KMT of flax oil seeds have been processed in Ukraine, which exceeds the results of the corresponding period of the previous season by 18.5%.

Accordingly, a comparable increase in performance has characterized the production of flaxseed oil and flax cake. So, in February 2017, 948 tons of flax oil was produced, which exceeded the result of February last year by almost 19 times. In comparison with the previous month, the indicator also increased – by 42%.

In the reporting month it was produced 1.15 KMT (14 times more than the result of February 2016) of linseed meal. The percentage of oil output from flax seeds, according to data from February 2017, reached around 45%. This is the reason for the much higher increase in the output of oil in comparison with the production of linseed meal. For comparison, in MY 2015/16 this indicator was kept most of the season at the level of 35%.

Volyk LLC is the largest processor of flax seeds according to results of the last months of MY 2016/17, which accounts for about 81% of flaxseed oil production and 79% of linseed meal in the reporting period.
