Railway freight traffic in Ukraine from 2011 to 2016 decreased by 27%.

As ProAgro reports referring to Novosti24, the deputy general director of the State enterprise Ukrpromvneshexpertiza Sergei Povazhnyuk told about this.

According to him, the volume of rail freight began to decline in 2012 due to the stagnation of the industry. The rate of decline accelerated in 2014-2015. After the annexation of the Crimea and Donbass conflict. In 2016, rail freight decreased by 1.7% compared to 2015, and compared to 2011 - by 27% to 344 MMT. At the same time, in the calculations for 2014-2016. Data was used without taking into account the temporarily occupied territory of the Crimea and the zone of the conflict.

Most of all in five years the transport fell in most of the industries: fertilizers (by 47%), coal (by 45%), oil and petroleum products (by 42%), coke (by 33%), ferrous metals (32%). It is noted that growth for the five-year period was shown only in grain cargo (+93%).

Povazhniuk also said that for the period 2011-2016 the total and working parks of freight cars in Ukraine decreased by 15.1 thousand units and 14.5 thousand units respectively.
