Ukrzaliznytsia has no plans to increase freight transportation tariffs in 2022

Ukrzaliznytsia has no plans for new stages of tariff increase for freight transportation in 2022, except for the one, which is scheduled for January 1. This was stated by the chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia Oleksandr Kamyshyn, reports ProAgro Group.

“Those two tariff hikes, which have already been adopted, significantly affect the business. And for different types of products it is from $1.5 to $2 per ton of transportation. We have no plans to increase cargo transportation tariffs in 2022”, – he said.

Kamyshyn noted that the funds, gained from increase of tariffs, are planned to be used for electrification of railways. According to him, electrification of railroads reduces the cost of transportation threefold for the company, which allows not to raise tariffs in the future.

The previous order of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine on the change of tariffs for cargo transportation by railroads in two stages entered into force on August 17.

At the first stage which has begun on August, 17th, the setting of the tariff for cargoes of the out-of-grade group at the level of cargoes of the 1st tariff class, and also increase on 8% of tariffs for cargoes of the 1st and 2nd classes has been supposed. There was also a 51.8% increase in the tariff for empty runs of freight cars.

At the second stage, from January 1, 2022, it is planned to increase the tariff by 20.4% for cargoes of the 1st class and by 6.5% for cargoes of the 2nd class.
