The rate of weakening of purchasing prices for pigs of slaughter conditions at the end of January slowed down. Thus, if a week earlier the average market mark “sagged” by almost 6%, this week it has weakened by only 2%, ProAgro Group reports with reference to the Association of Pig Breeders of Ukraine.
Quotations on the livestock market in the last week of January continued the downward movement, but with a smaller deviation than in the previous week. Thus, during the fourth week the prices for live pork in the Center and in the East fluctuated within the range of 44.5-46 UAH/kg.
A significant share of pork producers in these regions managed to maintain prices at the level of the previous week, for the rest the revision was limited by 0.25-1 UAH/kg. The more noticeable changes were observed in the West of the country, where the prices fluctuated at 42-43 UAH/kg, which is by 2 UAH/kg lower than a week before.
Pork producers say that most of them sell planned volumes, so the reference point for them remain the prices of the current week.
