According to ProAgro, for the first four months of the current season Ukraine shipped 1 506.7 KMT of sunflower meal/cake on the external markets. In comparison with the same period of the previous season”s volume, exports increased by 12% or 162.9 KMT.
The production volume of sunflower meal / cake in Ukraine in September-December of MY 2016/17 was 1 847.6 KMT. In comparison to the previous season”s corresponding months output increased by 39% (to 1 320.3 KMT for the same period of 2015/16 season).
Notably that the increase in production figures and exports is explained by a record harvest of sunflower in 2016, additionally combined with active foreign demand for sunflower oil in the first place – that maintains a high activity of the country”s refineries.
The main consumers of these products of Ukrainian origin on foreign markets were the EU countries such as France, Spain, Italy and others along with Belarus, share of which in the total amount exceeded 12%.
