GrainFromUkraine: 25 thousand tons of Ukrainian wheat went to Somalia

The bulk carrier NEVA, loaded with 25 thsd tonnes of Ukrainian food wheat for Somalia, left the port of Odesa today and is moving along the “grain corridor” as a part of the caravan, ProAgro Group reports with reference to the information of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine on Facebook.

“Despite the war and Russia’s terrorist attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, Ukraine continues to share responsibility with the world in combating world hunger. These 25 thousand tons are direct assistance from the Ukrainian state. The humanitarian cargo is delivered with the support of the Governments of Japan, France and Finland. Ukraine is uniting the world around the humanitarian program “Grain from Ukraine”, – commented Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov, Development of Territories, Communities and Infrastructure of Ukraine.

NEVA is the third vessel under the GrainFromUkraine program. The first two vessels carried 55 thousand tons of Ukrainian wheat for Ethiopia, which is on the verge of famine. This is food for almost 200 thousand people a year.

The GrainFromUkraine program was initiated by President Zelenskyy and is implemented with the support of the UN World Food Program and partners. It aims to help countries suffering from hunger.
