According to the latest report “Oilseeds: World Markets and Trade”, the total volume of sunflower oil production in the world in the season 2016/17 will be 15.85 MMT. During the past three seasons, the global production of such products increased by more than 14%.
Ukraine continues to hold a leading position as a biggest producer and exporter of sunflower oil. If in MY 2014/15 about 4.43 MMT of sunflower oil was produced in Ukraine, then in MY 2016/17 it is expected to reach 5.76 MMT (+1,3 MMT or +30%).
Second and third places in the list of the largest manufacturers are divided between Russia and the EU. In Russia, the indicators are showing significant growth, rates of which, however, lag far behind in comparison to the similar ones in Ukraine.

In addition to the leading position in TOP-3 list, Ukraine will continue to be a major world exporter of sunflower oil in 2016/17 season. According to the latest USDA forecast, 57% of sunflower oil delivered to the world market in the 2016/17 season will be of Ukrainian origin.
