As of March 22, 471 thousand ha were sown by Ukrainian farmers, which is 20% of the forecasted sown area.
This is reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
According to the report, the spring sowing campaign has already begun in 21 regions of Ukraine.
In particular, as of the reporting date, farmers already sowed 12 thousand ha of spring wheat (6% of the forecast); 321 thousand ha of spring barley (19% to the forecast); oats – 16 thousand ha (8%) and peas – 122 thousand ha (44%).
It is also reported that, as of the reporting date, winter crop yields for the 2017 were harvested from the area of 7 million ha (7.2 million ha were sown). Of these, 5.8 million ha (83%) are in good and satisfactory condition, 1.2 million ha (17%) in weak and poor state.
In addition, winter rape harvest was obtained on an area of 878 thousand ha (from 899 thousand ha sown), including 702 thousand ha (80%) in good and satisfactory condition and 171 thousand ha in weak and poor condition (19.5%).
