Since the beginning of the war between Russia and Ukraine, two ships BRAVE COMMANDER and KARTERIA, contracted under the UN World Food Programme, have taken 60,500 tons of Ukrainian wheat to countries that are in a state of humanitarian disaster.
This is reported by ProAgro Group with reference to the information of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Bulker BRAVE COMMANDER with a cargo of 23 000 tons has recently arrived in Djibouti. After unloading, the wheat will be delivered to the population of Ethiopia.
Another ship, KARTERIA, carrying 37,500 tons of wheat is bound for Yemen. According to UN data, 16 million people suffer from famine there.
Ukraine actively works with the UN World Food Program to increase food supplies for socially vulnerable people in Africa. Fulfilling the tasks of the global mission and responsibility to the countries in need of Ukrainian food is among the priorities of the Ukrainian authorities.
