September was a record month for Ukrainian wheat exports

September wheat exports became the largest this year and amounted to 1 783 thousand tons. But this is still less than in September 2021, when Ukraine exported 4 363 thsd tonnes of grain, Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka wrote on his Facebook page, ProAgro Group reports.

Last month, Ukrainian wheat was exported to 35 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa, most of all to Turkey (385 thousand tons), Spain (379 thousand tons) and Romania (227 thousand tons).

In addition, in September, for the first time since the beginning of the war, more than 2.1 million tons of corn were exported, while in the same month a year ago the volume of grain exports was 13 times higher and amounted to only 157 thousand tons.

“This change in indicators is a direct consequence of the war and the blockade, because the corn harvested last year was not exported on time and now we export it with a delay. In addition, the geography of corn exports is also different – it is dominated by Europe and the Mediterranean,” said Taras Kachka.

He also stressed that if Russia really cares about the poorest countries, it should help to restore trade in the Black Sea, and not blackmail by reducing inspections.
