According to the “ProAgro” company for the first quarter of MY 2016/17 Ukraine supplied 32% more of vegetable oil to external markets than for the same period of the previous season. External supply of soy oil increased by 13% over the same period.
According to the results of first quarter of 2016/17 season Kernel remains the largest exporter of Ukrainian sunflower oil, as well as sunflower meal/cake. Kernel’s share in the total exports of these products exceeds 21%. Key importers of sunflower oil of Ukrainian origin are India and China, which together account for almost half of its external shipments.

Sunflower seeds and sunflower meal/cake supplies starting from early MY 2016/17 were directed mostly to neighboring countries, such as Belarus, Poland and Turkey. However, France became the largest importer of sunflower seeds of Ukrainian origin in September-November MY 2016/17 (about 53% of the total shipment volume).

The biggest importers of rape and by-products according to the results of MY 2015/16 were EU countries, such as France, Poland and Lithuania. At the same time, volume of exports in the current season significantly lag behind in comparison to the results of the previous marketing year because of a very limited export potential in this market due to low crop volume harvested previously. Largest rapeseed exporters according to the result in July-September of MY 2016/17 became “ADM Trading Ukraine” and “Cargill”, which accounted for over 30% of the aggregate foreign trade supplies of this type of product.

Total exports volume of soybeans in September-November of MY 2016/17 exceeded the rate by 20% compared to the same period of the previous season. Export of soybean oil also showed positive dynamics (+13%), while the volume of foreign sales of meal/cake soy increased slightly. The main external consumers of Ukrainian soybeans from early MY 2016/17 are Egypt and Iran and main soybean oil users are Poland and India. Finally, soy meal/cake of Ukrainian origin is imported mainly to France, Hungary and Belarus.
