According to Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, spring sowing campaign has started in southern regions of Ukraine. As of 9th of March, 2017, the first 600 ha have been already sowed.
In particular, Ukrainian farmers sowed 500 ha of peas, 60 ha of barley and 40 ha of oats.
According to the preliminary data, the entire crop area of agricultural crops in all categories of farms will amount 26.8 million ha in 2017. These parameters are almost identical to those of 2016.
Grain crops in all categories of farms are projected to be sowed on the area of 14.4 million ha or 54% in the structure of sown areas, which corresponds to the norms of the optimal ratio of crops in crop rotations.
It is also reported that the sowing of spring grain crops is forecasted on the area of 7.2 million ha, including early spring grain crops (2.4 million ha).
