According to ProAgro, in September-February MY 2016/17, Ukraine shipped 23% more sunflower oil to foreign markets than in the same period of the previous season. At the same time, in February 2017 alone, 441.6 KMT were shipped for export, compared to 465.1 KMT in the previous month.
Kernel remains the largest exporter of Ukrainian sunflower oil as well as sunflower meal/cake following the results of the last months of the 2016/17 season. The company accounts for about 21% of the total exports of these products. The key importers of sunflower oil of Ukrainian origin are India and China, which together account for about 47% of total sunflower oil shipments.

The largest importer of seeds and sunflower meal/cake from the beginning of MY 2016/17 were such countries as: the Netherlands, France and Spain, which together accounted for more than 70% of Ukrainian exports of sunflower seeds and about 32% of sunflower meal/cake.

The largest importers of rape and products of its processing at the end of MY 2015/16 were such countries: France, Poland and Lithuania. At the same time, export volumes in the current season significantly lag behind the results of the previous marketing year since a low crop yield has formed a very limited export potential on this market. ADM Trading Ukraine, Cargill and Nibulon became the largest exporters of rape seeds by the results of July-February 2016/17, which accounted for slightly less than 40% of foreign trade shipments of this product.

The total volume of export of soybeans in September – February 2016/17 exceeded by 53% the indicator for the same period of the previous season. Exports of soybean oil showed an insignificant increase (+ 0.8%), while external supplies of soybean meal/cake increased by 8%. Since the beginning of MY 2016/17 the main external consumers of Ukrainian soybeans have been Turkey and Egypt; soybean oil – Poland and India. Soy meal/cake of Ukrainian origin has been imported mainly by Hungary, Belarus, France and Georgia.
