Ukraine recorded a historical mortality minimum of winter crops in 2017.
The information has been shared through the Facebook page of the first deputy minister of agrarian policy Maxim Martynyuk.
According to him, as of early April, the area of dead winter crops for grain was only 5.6 thousand ha or less than 0.1% of the sown area.
He noted that such an effect was achieved due to favorable weather conditions as well as the compliance with optimal terms and technologies of agricultural production used by farmers.
“Spring sowing also does not cause concern – the sowing of early grain crops was carried out on the area of 2 million ha or 83% of the plan (2.4 million ha)”, wrote Maxim Martyniuk, adding that it is too early to give forecasts for the coming harvest.
