This year the volume of use of mineral fertilizers by farmers will be significantly reduced because of their rise in price. Such a reduction can reach up to 50%. First of all it concerns small and medium agricultural producers.
These predictions were shared by the director of agricultural production company “NIBULON” Konstantin Khmelnitsky, reports “ProAgro Group”, referring to AgroTimes.
According to him, large farms will also hold revision, possibly a differentiated approach will be applied – in the zones with high humidity fertilizers will be bought by 100%, in the zone of risky agriculture these volumes can be reduced by half.
“Of course, this can affect the yield, but not much in the arid zone. Probably, we will go this way, too,” – said the expert. In particular, the company is considering changing the form of fertilizers or will buy them promptly, if necessary.
As it was reported, during 2021 the cost of fertilizers in the world market has grown to a record. Nitrogen fertilizers had the largest jump in price, the cost of which increased by 250%.
