The number of pigs in the country has once again fallen below the six million mark. The Association of Pig Breeders of Ukraine noted the negative trend, analyzing the statistical data, reports ProAgro Group.
Besides the acceleration of the reduction of pigs in households to 9.5% at the end of October, analysts are concerned about the decrease of the growth rate of pigs in agricultural enterprises.
“Whereas at the beginning of the year the figure was almost 12%, a couple of months ago the figure was 3-4%, at the beginning of November it was just 1.3% or 46 thousand head. The increase in industrial livestock would have to be at least five times larger to cover the reduction in livestock in households. However, in light of the market trends of the last year, such a breakthrough is virtually impossible,” noted the APBU.
A month earlier, the analytical department of the Association of Pig Breeders of Ukraine noted the first signals of the industry’s winding down.
