Declining prices on world markets are the main problem of Ukrainian beekeepers

In 2017 Ukraine exported 70 thousand tons of honey for $133 million, while in 2020 there were exported 81 thousand tons and received $116 million. The main problem for honey producers is the price.

This was said by the president of the Union of Beekeepers of Ukraine Volodymyr Stretovych during the National Honey Forum “Golden Apiary 5.0,” reports ProAgro Group.

“We have positive trends in the industry: last year the state honored beekeepers with support, Ukraine came out on top in terms of honey exports, the Ministry of Agriculture has created a sector for beekeeping issues,” says Stretovych.

At the same time he emphasizes that the results of anti-dumping investigation in the USA on import of honey at a price that American associations of honey producers consider lower than fair may result in Ukraine losing this market.
