In Ukraine from February 1, 2022 the minimum retail prices for plastic bags will take effect. The relevant decision has already been taken by the Cabinet of Ministers, says “ProAgro Group.
As noted on the website of the Ministry of Economy, in this way it is planned to encourage Ukrainians to use reusable ecological bags.
The new minimum prices for single-use plastic bags will be:
- 2.00 UAH – bag without handles and side folds;
- 2.50 UAH – bag without handles, but with side folds or with handles without side folds;
- 3,00 UAH – bag with handles and side folds.
It concerns bags with walls thicker than 50 microns, which are designed for packaging and transportation of goods. Thinner bags under 50 micronswill be completely prohibited since March 10, 2022.
The next step in the fight for ecology could be the introduction of a deposit for plastic bottles. This practice is already widespread in European countries, where they charge an additional fee for plastic containers when buying drinks, which are then returned when they are discarded.
