Demand for pork during the New Year’s week has increased significantly, so the prices for pigs of slaughter conditions also rose. Thus, during trading, the range of buying prices for live pigs rose to 49.5-50 UAH / kg, and the average market price reached 49.75 UAH / kg, ProAgro Group reports citing the Association of Pig Breeders of Ukraine.
In supermarkets the price of pork in the first days of 2022 ranged from 113 to 130 UAH. And the experts say that it will remain high for now, because a new wave of demand is expected on Christmas Eve.
“Pork producers have noted considerable demand for additional volumes, so the actual sale of animals exceeded the planned number at the end of last week. This, for its part, has limited the size of commercial lots for sale in the first week of 2022 for many operators,” the APBU noted.
