AMCU to consider case on violation of antitrust laws by companies of Roshen group

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has completed the collection and analysis of evidence in the case initiated in 2020 against a group of companies comprising Interstarch Ukraine, Dniprovsky Starch and Molasses Plant and Intercorn Corn Processing Industry for abuse of a monopolistic position in the starch treacle and syrup market during 2018-2020.

This is reported by ProAgro Group with reference to the information of the AMCU.

Consideration of the relevant case by the committee is scheduled for tomorrow, December 21, 2021. In time and in the prescribed manner, the defendants were invited to the meeting and served with a presentation of preliminary findings in the case.

The committee observed all the procedural rights of the defendants. In particular, familiarization with materials of the case was provided, the term for preparation of objections was prolonged.

AMC suggests:

  • To acknowledge that the Group has monopolistically (dominant) position on the national market of primary sale of starch corn syrup and glucose syrups;
  • to admit that the Group committed two violations of legislation on protection of economic competition in the form of abuse of a monopolistic (dominant) position in that market;
  • to oblige the group to stop these violations.
