Potential losses from the armed Russian aggression in the agricultural sector of Ukraine could reach $6.4 billion. This includes destroyed irrigation infrastructure, granaries, machinery, port infrastructure, greenhouses, field crops, livestock and processing plants.

This is stated in the FAO report, reports ProAgro Group with reference to Elevatorist.com.

The World Bank and the EBRD have pledged $3 billion and $2 billion for Ukraine’s recovery, but investment needs will be much higher.

“Indicative priority areas to be covered by the recovery and investment plan for Ukrainian agriculture are likely to include support for rural households and food security, liquidity and access to finance, demining, critical inputs, seed production and livestock, compensation for lost assets and other areas of immediate and long-term development needs,” the report said.

As a reminder, during the first month of the Russian-Ukrainian war, two seaports and their infrastructure suffered $622 million worth of damage from the hostilities.
