Prosecutors of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Supreme Court of Ukraine have obtained the recovery from the State Food and Grain Corporation of almost 4 mln UAH of losses, caused to the state due to emission of pollutants into the atmosphere from 69 stationary sources. This is reported by ProAgro Group with reference to the information of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Prosecutors proved that within 9 months the company had been operating stationary sources of air pollutant emissions without any special permit. In accordance with the law requirements emission of pollutants into the air by stationary sources may be performed after obtaining a permit, issued to a business entity.
It is noted that the SFGC appealed the decision to satisfy the prosecutor’s claim in the court of cassation. At the same time, the Supreme Court agreed with the prosecutor’s arguments and left the defendant’s appeal without satisfaction.
