Ukraine proposed to create an Organization of Grain Exporting Countries. The main functions that such “OPEC for grains” will perform, were revealed on the air of the national marathon UArazom by Markiyan Dmitrasevich, advisor to the Minister of Agrarian Policy, ProAgro Group reports with reference to the information of the Ministry.
“We want the world’s major grain exporters – the United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Ukraine and the EU – to unite to protect their own interests in the world market,” Markiyan Dmitrasevich explained.
According to him, there are often situations when, for example, Ukraine exports a lot of grain, but certain restrictive measures are applied to imports of processed products.
In such circumstances, the countries of the Organization of Grain Exporting Countries could respond to unfriendly measures to ban imports jointly. And if a member of the Organization would be prohibited imports to a certain country, it would be considered a violation of the interests of all, said the advisor to the Minister.
