Maize seeding potential is not yet exhausted and the area under this crop will be moderately increased up to the level of 6-7 million hectares.
As ProAgro Group reports, this was stated by the Minister of Agrarian Policy Roman Leshchenko in his blog on AgroPolit.com.
“I do not think that more land should be used for corn, because there is also a question of crop rotation and technology compliance. Certainly, we still have agrarians who have been growing corn on corn for 10 years in a row. They have their own technological map for this process, but the average Ukrainian agrarian sows corn for 2-3 years, and then starts a crop rotation to ensure soil recovery and stable yields in the future, “- said the Minister.
He added that there are agricultural producers in Ukraine who have been sowing corn for 20 years in a row and get good results, because everything depends on the technology.
