Buckwheat sets new price record

On the domestic market prices for buckwheat continue to rise, reports ProAgro Group with reference to the information of the Ministry of Finance.

So, as of January 2, 2022 in the largest retail supermarkets buckwheat was sold at an average price of 50.90 UAH/kg. Compared with December 4, 2021, the price of cereal increased by 8.22 UAH/kg.

“The consumer price index for buckwheat in January 2022 was 106.01%. Compared to the previous month, the average prices increased by 6.01%. In December 2021, the index compared to the previous month was 100.23%,” the Ministry of Finance noted.

As of January 4, 2022 in the Lviv wholesale market “Shuvar” buckwheat was sold at the highest price – 65.52 UAH/kg. The Kyiv market “Stolichny” offers buckwheat much cheaper – at an average price of 38.60 UAH/kg, with the highest price of 40 UAH/kg.

In Ukrainian supermarkets the price of buckwheat groats ranges as follows:

  • Novus – 45.19 UAH/kg (in December 2021 – 45.93 UAH/kg);
  • Metro – 45,20 UAH/kg (December 2021 – 45,20 UAH / kg);
  • Auchan – 54,30 UAH/kg (December 2021 – 50,37 UAH/kg);
  • Varus – 58,90 UAH/kg (December 2021 – 47,53 UAH/kg).
