Winter crops in Dnipropetrovsk oblast have sprouted on only 20% of the area

In Dnipropetrovsk oblast winter crops have come up only on 20% of the sown areas. Those farmers, who delayed, faced with dry autumn and problems with germination.

This is reported by ProAgro Group with reference to Agravery.com.

“In our Nikopol district, winter crops are very bad. We sowed 4.5 thousand hectares of wheat and a thousand of barley in the farm. No more than a thousand hectares of crops feel normal. Almost 20% of it have sprouted. And if there is no rain, there will be nothing. It’s a bad harvest. And it is too late to reseed. We will sow either corn or sunflower in spring – we gave up spring barley and wheat. But we have our own processing plant and we need wheat,” Tamara Skoruk, a farmer and chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the Regional Council on Agrarian Complex and Social Development of the Rural Areas, says.

According to Anatoliy Gaivoronskiy, a farmer, chairman of the Association of Farmers and Private Landowners of Dnipropetrovsk oblast, because of the prolonged sunflower harvest, the situation is not good. Even rapeseed, which at first went well, then languished and is now under stress.
