A record number of vessels passed through the ports of the Danube

On Saturday, 11 vessels with 45 thousand tons of grain passed through the Ukrainian Danube ports. This is reported by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, informs “ProAgro Group”.

“For the past day, August 27, in the direction of Ukrainian Danube ports (“Izmail”, “Reni” and “Ust-Dunaysk”) through the mouth of the Bystre and the Romanian channel Sulina passed 11 vessels, a total of 45 thousand tons. This is a record since February 24, at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia,” the report says.

According to the Minister of the Infrastructure Olexandr Kubrakov, since March more than 4 million tons of grain have been transported through the Danube ports – now it is more than by all other types of transport. The Ministry of Infrastructure continues to improve the export logistics on the Danube – conditions for unimpeded communication between ports by railroads are being created, including by providing a direct rail connection.

“Subject to systemic investments and the implementation of the modernization program of the ports on the Danube, it is possible to increase their capacity to 25 million tons of cargo per year. By the way, the joint project of the Ministry of Infrastructure and EBRD on the research of export logistics in Bessarabia has already started. In two months we will receive proposals for planning public, public-private and private investments, international projects and projects at the expense of international financial institutions,” Kubrakov said.
