At the end of 2021 river cargo transportation in Ukraine rose to 20.6 million tons, which is 30.3% more than in 2020, when they were 15.8 million tons.
This is reported by “ProAgro Group” with reference to the message of the Association “Rivers of Ukraine” in Facebook.
On the Dnieper, the volume of cargo transportation increased by 27.7% – from 11.2 million tons in 2020 to 14.4 million tons in 2021. Mainly construction materials, grains and metal products were transported by the river.
Cargo traffic on the Danube increased by 35.8%. Last year it was 5.5 million tons against 4.1 million tons a year before. Among the main cargoes there are ore, grain and metal products.
On the Southern Bug the freight increased by 41.8%. Last year they amounted to 0.7 million tons, compared to 0.5 million tons in 2020. Traditionally grains are transported by the river.
For the first time in a long time the volume of cargo transportation on Ukrainian rivers has exceeded 20 million tons. The result is the highest since 1994, when the freight flow on Ukrainian rivers was 19.9 million tons.
