Suez Canal to raise transit tariff by 6% from February

Суецький канал

The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has decided since February 2022 to increase by 6% the rate of transit fee for most types of vessels, except LNG-gas carriers and cruise ships.

This is reported by ProAgro Group with reference to the Guardian.

The SCA explained the decision not to raise a tariff for LNG carriers by the worldwide trend of stimulating marine LNG trade to reduce pollutant emissions.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts the global economy will grow 5.9 percent and 4.9 percent in 2021 and 2022, respectively. The IMF and the World Trade Organization (WTO) also expect continued growth in global trade shipments and a 6.7% and 4.7% increase in demand for maritime transport in 2022, respectively, thereby predicting continued high levels of cargo transport and good maritime profits for shipping companies.
