The meeting of the working group on the operative solution of questions of logistics in agriculture took place on November 29 with the participation of the First Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky, representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure, JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” and profile associations and market operators, reports ProAgro Group with reference to the information of the Ministry of Agricultural Policy.
The participants of the meeting discussed the urgent issues of reducing the periods of operation of freight cars and the increase in the cost of services for the use of cars.
Valeriy Tkachov, the deputy director of the department of commercial work of the JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”, has briefly outlined a draft program for the renewal of the freight wagon fleet. A significant reduction of the useful life of wagons for grain transportation is foreseen, namely: during 7 years (2022-2028) it is supposed to decrease gradually by 15 years (from 45 to 30 years).
According to him, in order to renew the fleet of freight cars it is necessary to introduce gradual limitation of their operating life in loaded condition with the ultimate goal of achieving the operation of cars within the entire normative service life. Such restrictions apply only to gondola cars and grain carriers.
In addition, the issue of ordering railcars via Prozorro.Selling auction was discussed. Thus, the average bid on the lots with the use of grain cars of Ukrzaliznytsia has already increased and reached 5 thousand UAH per day. There was a request to solve the situation with the unprecedented increase in the cost of grain transportation by rail.
