According to the USDA latest data, world wheat crop volume will be 2% higher in MY 2016/17 than it was in the previous season and will reach 782.7 MMT. As well as in the past seasons, EU will save a leading position in terms of production in the new season, where the gross harvest is expected to reach 144.3 MMT (10% less than in MY 2015/16).
It is expected that China (128.9 MMT vs 130.2 MMT in MY 2015/16) and India (90.0 MMT vs 86.5 MMT in MY 2015/16) will have their place among TOP-3 largest producers of wheat in MY 2016/17.

In addition, the EU countries are also characterized by the highest average yield index in the world. The world average level was 3.3 t/ha in MY 2015/16, whereas EU wheat yield was about 6.0 t/ha.
Besides, the second highest level of 3.8 t/ha in the 2015/16 season was recorded In Ukraine. According to the USDA forecast in MY 2016/17, the wheat yield will be even higher in our country, reaching 4.2 t/ha (the world average of 3.4 t/ha), while the gross harvest is expected to be 27.0 MMT.
