As of March 1, 2017, Ukraine”s enterprises stored 10.61 MMT of corn. The indicator for the current year is much higher than it was in the beginning of March 2016, where the total reserves of corn were 6.94 MMT.
During the last five seasons, comparable volumes of reserves at the reporting date were observed only in MY 2014/15, when the total volumes of corn in the warehouses of Ukrainian enterprises as of March 1, 2015 were 10.66 MMT. Other seasons showed significantly smaller amount of stocks.
By early March 2017, the largest volumes of corn were in storage in Poltava region – 2.22 MMT or 20% of the total. In addition, more than 1 MMT of stocks were stored in Chernihiv (1.04 MMT) and Kiev (1.01 MMT) regions.
At the same time, stocks in Chernivtsi region as of the reporting date were slightly less than 14 KMT, moreover, in Transcarpathian and Donetsk regions there were only 20 KMT and 28 KMT of corn stored, respectively.
It should be noted that the existing stocks are distributed among enterprises that are engaged in storage and processing (a) and agricultural companies (b) rather evenly. So, as of the 1st of March, 2017, the share of storage and processing companies accounted for 51% of the total volume. On the other hand, the share agricultural companies amounted to 49%.
