As of March 31, 2017, Ukrainian farmers sowed 1.2 million ha with early grain and leguminous crops, which is 51% of the forecast.
This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
In particular, as of the reporting date, farmers sowed 76 thousand ha with spring wheat, which is 40% of the forecast. About 819 thousand ha were planted with spring barley (47% to the forecast); oats – 80 thousand ha (39%) and peas – 241 thousand ha (87%).
In addition, sugar beet sowing has already started (7 thousand ha sown already) as well as sunflower (26 thousand ha).
It is also reported that winter garin crops continue the spring vegetation on an area of 7.1 million ha (7.2 million ha were sown initially). Shoots of winter rapeseed were observed on an area of 882 thousand ha (899 thousand ha were sown initially).
It is noted that according to the data, there are 1 MMT of mineral fertilizers are in possesion of agricultural enterprises, which is equal to 105% to the needed amount.
