Since the beginning of 2016/17 MY, Ukraine has exported one third of the total produced sugar

According to the results of July-March 2016/17 marketing year, Ukraine exported 611 KMT of sugar, which is 30% of the total volume of its production.

It has been reported by ProAgro with a reference to the Economic Discussion Club (EDC).

In particular, in March of this year, Ukraine exported 89 KMT of sugar.

According to the report, the main export supplies were made to Sri Lanka, Georgia and Cote d”Ivoire.

It is noted that during the reporting period, domestic consumption of sugar has been estimated at 948 KMT. At the same time, as in the previous year, sugar imports are virtually nonexist.

It is also reported that the calculated sugar balances as of April 1, 2017 are estimated at 781 KMT, which is 20% less than a year earlier.

“Today, it provides an opportunity to provide a semi-annual demand for domestic food consumption, but if the trend of the first quarter of this year will continue its pace, high rates of sugar exports will also increase in the future. As a result, Ukrainian market may be threatened by a sugar deficit”, – experts say.
