For 3 quarters Ukraine increased agricultural imports by 22%

During 9 months of 2021 Ukraine imported agro products for a total amount of $5 billion, which is 22% higher than last year and 89% higher than it was 5 years ago. This is reported by ProAgro Group with reference to the Ukrainian club of agrarian business.

At the same time, it is worth noting that imports of agro-industrial products is 3.5 times lower compared to exports.

The largest share of imports in monetary terms are: chilled or frozen fish (10%), feed for livestock (5%), palm oil (4%), sunflower seeds for sowing (4%) and strong alcoholic beverages (4%).

The top 5 largest importers of agricultural products to Ukraine for 9 months of 2021 were: Poland – 11% ($ 575.5 million), Germany – 7% ($ 337.1 million), Turkey – 6% ($ 297.8 million), Indonesia – 5% ($ 232 million) and Italy – 5% ($ 231 million). As can be seen from the above data, the largest importers are EU countries, the total share of which in agricultural imports makes up 55%.
