British military intelligence has confirmed the information, which had previously been voiced by Ukrainian and world experts, about the likely reduction in grain production in Ukraine, ProAgro Group reports.
The secret service noted that the Russian invasion has undermined Ukrainian agricultural production.
“The Ukrainian grain harvest in 2022 is expected to be about 20 percent lower than in 2021 because of the reduction in cultivated areas as a result of the invasion,” the intelligence service said.
The British intelligence service also stressed that Ukraine is the fourth largest producer and exporter of agricultural products in the world. In its turn, the reduced supply of grain from Ukraine will lead to inflationary pressure and increase global grain prices.
