In January-September 2021 Ukraine exported grain worth $7.8 billion

In January-September 2021, the export of domestic grain decreased against last year’s figures for the corresponding period by more than 13% and totaled 32.7 million tons. At the same time, the cost of supplies increased by 15% – up to $7759 million, as Senior Research Associate at the Institute of Agrarian Economics Bogdan Dukhnitsky stated, ProAgro Group reports.

During the first nine months of 2021, 13.1 million tons of wheat worth $3.1 billion, 15.1 million tons of corn – $3.6 billion and 4.2 million tons of barley – $0.9 billion were sold abroad. The biggest buyers of Ukrainian grain in January-September 2021 were still Asian, African and European countries.

The leading position in the ranking of the largest importers of domestic grain is occupied by China, whose share in total exports of these products in January-September 2021 amounted to 22.9%. This Asian country bought Ukrainian grain worth $1775 million, the expert said.

Egypt (10.8%), Indonesia (8.1%), Turkey (5.7%), the Netherlands (5.2%), Iran (4.4%), Spain (3.7%) and Libya (3.0%) accounted for a notable share of Ukrainian grain exports. Together, these countries brought 64% of the income of all exports of this group of products, summarized Bogdan Dukhnitsky.
