According to the State Statistics Service, as of October 1, 2021, compared to the same date last year the number of major species of farm animals declined by 1.7-6.7%.

At the beginning of the month, the number of cattle in Ukraine amounted to 3.11 million heads (6.7% less than as of October 1, 2020): agricultural enterprises hold about 1 million heads of cattle (1.2% less), households – 2.11 million heads (9.1% less). In particular, there were 1.64 million cows as of October 1, 2021 (5.9% less than of October 1, 2020): 421.7 thousand – in agricultural enterprises (0.1% less) and 1.22 million – in household farms (7.8% less).
There were 6.07 million pigs in Ukraine on that date (1.7% less than on October 1, 2020): 3.71 million heads in agricultural enterprises (3.6% more) and 2.36 million heads in households (8.9% less).
Also, as of October 1, this year there were 1.3 million sheep and goats (5.3% less than a year earlier): 162 thousand heads in agricultural enterprises (7.4% more) and 1.13 million heads in households (6.9% less).
The number of poultry decreased by 1.8% from October 1, 2020 to October 1, 2021 – down to 234.03 million heads: to 1.7% in agricultural enterprises (down to 118.36 million heads) and to 2.0% in households (down to 115.67 million heads).
