More than a quarter of Ukrainian wheat within the “Grain Corridor” went to African countries

The sixth vessel under the UN World Food Program is being loaded in the port of Chornomorsk. The PANGEO ship will deliver 40 thousand tons of wheat to Yemen. The vessel will go to sea approximately by the end of the week, “ProAgro Group” reports with reference to the information of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

It should be recalled that five previous ships with a cargo of 150 080 tons of wheat were sent on the route to Yemen, Afghanistan, and three of them – to Ethiopia.

As of today, 362 ships with a cargo of 8 million tons have departed from Ukraine within the “Grain Corridor”. The volume of wheat supplies is 2.4 million tons, in particular, 537 thousand tons were sent to the countries in need. We are talking about such countries as Kenya, Somalia, Lebanon, Sudan and others. But only 650 thousand tons of wheat were shipped to African countries, which is 26.80% of the total volume.

It should be noted that part of Ukrainian wheat, which is delivered to Turkey, as a leading exporter of flour and finished products from it, will also go to countries that need food. Currently, the total share of wheat sent to Turkey is 20.2%, it is 489 597 tons.

The supply of Ukrainian wheat within the framework of the WFP will not be limited to the sixth vessel, more shipments are planned in the near future.
