The harvest of early grains in Ukraine is 40% less than last year

The harvesting of early grains and rape is nearly finished. The harvest is still 40% less than last year, mainly because of the smaller harvesting area, while the yield is only 12% lower than last year.

This is stated in the macroeconomic review for September 2022, prepared by the National Bank of Ukraine, reports “ProAgro Group”.

At the same time, said the NBU, with the new harvest and the opening of sea ports increased the volume of grain transportation by rail (in August by 22% compared to July).

“The food industry also revived: Ukrainian feed mills, which were not subjected to occupation, almost resumed work at the pre-war level. Oil producers have begun to launch processing plants, the production of livestock products is intensifying,” the report says.

At the same time, the NBU stated that a decrease in domestic demand and significant formed stocks put pressure on prices and restrain the production of flour.
