The price of sunflower oil in Ukraine is equal to the price of olive oil. However, this is just for democratic brands of the latter.
Journalist Yegor Checherinda wrote about it on his page on Facebook, posting a photograph of the receipt with the corresponding prices, ProAgro Group reports citing OBOZREVATEL.
It appears that the purchase was made in one of the supermarkets of the Novus network. The prices were:
- for Ukrainian oil “Chumak” – 73.99 UAH /0.9 l (82.21 UAH per 1 liter);
- Italian olive oil Santolino – 89,99 UAH / liter.
“One oil is made of sunflower and came from Poltava (300 km from Kyiv), the other from the Italian city of Bari (2,650 km from Kyiv). I’d rather not say anything about the duty paid at the border and the difference in salaries of the workers who made this oil in Bari and Poltava. As well as about how much cheaper sunflower oil is than olives, “- the journalist commented.
As of January 6, 2022, according to the monitoring of the publication, the price of sunflower oil in supermarkets in Kiev was 62-68 UAH/liter.
