Three quarters of Ukrainian agricultural exports are concentrated in eight European countries

Eight European countries account for 3/4 of Ukrainian agricultural exports. Therefore, Ukrainian agrarian business needs to look for new partners, including in new countries.

This was stated during the online discussion “Foreign Trade in War: Challenges and Opportunities” by Mykola Pugachev, Deputy Director of the Institute of Agrarian Economics, ProAgro Group reports with reference to AgroTimes.

He recalled that before the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, 30% of agricultural exports were to the countries of the European Union.

“The structure of exports to the EU is dominated by the products of the plant industry: corn, rapeseed, soybeans, wheat, barley, rye, etc.”, – said Mykola Pugachev.

In general, almost 40% of agricultural exports to the EU are cereals, 15% – seeds, 16.3% – fats and oils.

“And only a small share is made up of products of deep processing”, – added Mykola Pugachev.

The scientist stressed that due to the full-scale war in Russia, the EU has become almost the only remaining market. He reminded that Ukraine has obligations to the world in the context of food security. Therefore, even with the blockade of ports, the country began to look for new ways to sell agricultural products.
