Ukraine increases export of agricultural products by land and waterways

Last month, Ukrainian farmers exported 6.9 million tons of food, which is a record figure since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. Compared to August, the volume of transportation of agricultural products increased by 41%, Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov said on his Facebook page, ProAgro Group reports.

“In particular, we continue to increase the pace of work of the unblocked ports of the “big Odesa”. In September, we increased the export of agricultural products by more than 2 times – up to 3.8 million tons, and the reception of ships for loading by 2.5 times – up to 168 ships per month,” he wrote.

Also, the export potential of the Danube ports continues to increase, which have already reached a stable figure of more than one million tons of exported agricultural products per month. Back in March, this figure was only 16 thousand tons.

“As for the railway, in September we exported more than 1.2 million tons of food. This is more than 200 thousand tons more than last month. We are currently actively developing the railway infrastructure on the border with the EU to further increase the export capacity of the railway,” Kubrakov noted.

Work is also underway to increase the capacity of road transport. In recent months, the capacity of the Krakivets-Korczowa border crossing point has been increased, and queues at key border crossing points in the Polish direction have been significantly reduced. These decisions allowed to ensure stable transportation of agricultural products across the western borders.

“We count on the support of international partners in the development of our logistics capabilities. Only together we can win and prevent Russia from using food as an instrument of blackmail,” the Minister stressed.
