Ukraine may harvest 63 million tons of grains and oilseeds this year

Ukraine in the face of an aggressive and brutal war waged by Russia will still harvest grain. This year, despite the fact that 5 million hectares may not be sown or it will be impossible to harvest on them, Ukraine can get about 63 million tons of grain and oilseeds from an area of about 20 million hectares.

This forecast was announced by the Ukrainian Grain Association, as reports ProAgro Group.

According to UGA estimates, the yield of wheat this year can be expected at 18.2 million tons, which is significantly lower than last year’s record of 33 million tons, but this figure is almost three times more than Ukraine consumes annually.

This year we may harvest 6.2 million tons of barley (in 2021 – 10.1 million tons), and exports in 2022/23 MY can be expected at the level of 2 million tons. The corn harvest can be expected at the level of 23.1 million tons (37.6 million tons in the previous year), and exports may reach about 20 million tons.

Sunflower harvest can be expected at 9.8 million tons (in 2021 – 16.9 million tons). The rapeseed harvest is projected at 1.5 million tons (2.9 million tons in 2021), with exports in 2022/23 MY expected at 1.3 million tons. The soybean crop can be expected to reach 1.8 million tons (3.5 million tons in 2021), and 2022/23 MY exports can amount to 0.6 million tons.

In general, exports of grains and oilseeds in 2022/23 MY can be expected at 35 million tons, provided that Ukraine, under the blockade of the Black Sea ports, can increase the capacity of other logistical directions, including railway crossings on the borders with the EU countries.
